160 mm is the ‘entry aperture’ into the ‘big refractor’ world. Such an instrument is capable of delivering a lifetime of enjoyment under the stars.
We deliver it in two packages, one aimed for both visual and imaging work, with 1050 mm focal length, while the 1260 mm focal length we recommend it for those astronomers who enjoy a purely visual experience of planets, double-stars and deep sky objects.
165mm f7.9 limited edition (5 pieces) is an offshoot of the 1260mm focal length unit, boosting a tad more aperture.
Oil-spaced lens design starts to show its advantages in these big sizes, helping the triplet lens to quickly reach ambient temperatures.
Main features:
* 3.2" or 3.5" rack and pinion type focuser from Starlight Instruments
* 2(two) different apertures and focal lengths to choose from (subject to availability)
* dew shield with rotate & lock feature
* bino-viewer friendly design; (longer focal length versions)
* portable, medium to big size refractor
* Oil-spaced design for best possible light transmission & highest contrast.
